SERVICES Ba and Vatutavui booked their places in the semi-finals of the Ba Rugby Union competition after hard-fought victories in their respective quarter-final clashes at Vinod Patel Park on Saturday.
In the Inox Trophy quarter-final, Services Ba edged Natunuku 13-7 in a tightly contested encounter. Both teams displayed strong defence throughout the match, but Services Ba made the most of their scoring opportunities to hold off a determined Natunuku outfit.
Natunuku stayed within striking distance after scoring a converted try, but Services Ba maintained their composure in the closing stages to secure a six-point victory and advance to the next round.
In the Bowl quarter-final, Vatutavui claimed an 11-6 win over Koroboya Two in another physical contest.
Vatutavui capitalised on their chances to build a narrow lead while their defence stood firm against repeated attacks from Koroboya Two, who managed only two penalty goals.
The victory sees Vatutavui progress to the Bowl semi-finals, while Services Ba will now turn their attention to the Inox Trophy semi-finals as both teams continue their quest for silverware.
