Police are searching for a group of men allegedly involved in the death of a villager in Ra.
The man is believed to have been assaulted by several fellow villagers earlier this week and remained in the village following the alleged attack.
On Thursday, when his health condition deteriorate, the alleged assailants used a vehicle to transport the victim to the Nayavu Health Centre.
He was later transferred to Suva for further medical treatment, where he died.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that one suspect is currently being questioned.
“One suspect is being questioned while investigations are ongoing to identify the others involved,” she said.
The vehicle used in the transportation of the deceased has been seized by Police and is now at the Rakiraki Police Station.
Investigations into the alleged murder are continuing.
