Ba Provincial Freebird Institute held its athletics inter-house meet at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday, marking a revival after a three-year hiatus.

According to meet coordinator Mosese Utovou, the primary objective was to revive interest in track and field sports within the school.

“We haven’t had our inter-house meet for three years and the main reason for us having this is to revive athletics,” Utovou said.

Although Ba Provincial is widely recognised for its achievements in rugby league, the inter-house meet served as a platform for teachers to identify promising runners and field athletes.

“We always focus on rugby league but now we have discovered potentials in athletics,” he added.

Despite the rain in the Sugar City yesterday, Ba Provincial Freebird Institute persevered in hosting the event.
