Newly reinstated Youth and Sports Minister Jese Saukuru has thanked supporters, family and well-wishers following his return to Cabinet after a three-month absence from office.
In a Facebook post shortly after taking his oath at State House, Saukuru reflected on what he described as a difficult period and credited his faith for helping him through the ordeal.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Saukuru wrote, quoting Psalm 27:1.
“It was not an easy three months, but we continue to thank God for His love.”
Saukuru also thanked members of the public for their prayers and messages of support during the period he was out of office.
“On behalf of my wife and my family, I extend my heartfelt thanks for all your support during a difficult period,” he said.
“Thank you for all your prayers and messages that you’ve sent me during the past three months.”
The minister reaffirmed his commitment to serving the youth and sports sector, saying his role was about service rather than privilege.
“I am always ready to serve the youth and sports sector of the country, and I must say again that I am not here to be served, I am here to serve,” Saukuru stated.
He ended his message by calling for unity and cooperation for the country’s development.
“Let’s continue to work together for the betterment of our country.”
