THE Director of Public Prosecutions has amended the particulars of a charge involving a 28-year-old committing an alleged act of sacrilege at the Samabula Shiv Temple.

Samuela Tawase had his matter called on October 9 before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad in the Suva Magistrate’s Court.

The court heard the accused is now fit to take a plea following his psychiatric evaluation conducted earlier this year.

The two previous charges of sacrilege and damaging property remain the same, but the charge of throwing objects has been removed.

Mr Prasad has also asked him to have Legal Aid representation as the case moves forward.

The case has been adjourned to October 23.
