Heavyweight boxer Kimo Vakalalabure is determined to ensure the sacrifices he has made over the past two months pay off when he faces experienced campaigner Joseph Kwadjo in the Kings Boxing Promotion at the Vodafone Arena in Suva this Saturday.
The 33-year-old made the bold decision to resign from his job so he could dedicate all his time and energy to training, believing the demanding preparation required his full attention.
“I wanted to give my full concentration because this will not be an easy fight for me,” Vakalalabure said.
Despite taking an unbeaten 2-0 professional record into the contest, Vakalalabure has no intention of underestimating his opponent.
Kwadjo, 41, boasts a wealth of experience with 41 professional fights, winning 28, including 23 by knockout.
“Kwadjo is a very good boxer and I respect him, but I have given my everything in preparing for this fight,” he said.
The boxing program begins at 4pm and will also feature Mika Ravalaca defending his WBA Oceania Lightweight title against India’s Digari Mahesh.
