The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has advised the public that a military training exercise will be conducted in several areas along the Suva-Nausori corridor from Wednesday, July 1, to Friday, July 10.

In a public notice, the RFMF said the exercise will take place in the vicinity of Davuilevu, Nakasi, Tovata (Makoi), the RUPS Mega Complex and the Nasinu Training Area.

The military said residents can expect the movement of troops during the exercise, which will also involve the use of blank rounds and pyrotechnics to simulate battlefield conditions.

The RFMF assured the public that all necessary safety measures have been put in place before the commencement of the exercise.

Members of the public are being asked not to be alarmed by the increased military activity or the sounds of simulated gunfire and explosions in the identified areas over the 10-day period.

The RFMF thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation while the training exercise is carried out.
