RFMF duo depart for Australia to further their studies

Corporal John Lilo and Lance Corporal Lote Tikovagone who are soldiers of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces departed for Australia today to further their studies at the School of Military Engineering at Army Holsworthy Barracks in Sydney.

The duo are enrolled in the Subject 4 for Corporal Advance Combat Engineers Course which will run from February 22 – May 21, 2021.

According to a statement from the Australian High Commission, Suva the course provides an excellent opportunity to build on foundation knowledge as combat engineer junior commanders.

“The pair were farewelled in Nadi by ADF Captain Cam Laing and Warrant Officer Class Two Liam Wardell who took some time out from their busy schedule on the Blackrock Construction Project,” the statement said.

Australia’s Defence Advisor to Fiji, Colonel Rob Haertsch said, “Despite the pandemic, Australia and Fiji continue to work closely together to ensure our militaries get more opportunities to study and train alongside each other. I wish the two fellow sappers who are leaving today the very best with their course.”
