OPPOSITION MPs should put more emphasis on iTaukei land utilisation over ownership, says Defence and National Security Minister Inia Seruiratu.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Mr Seruiratu said the Opposition should stop telling the iTaukei that their land was not safe under the FijiFirst Government.

Mr Seruiratu said it should be understood that 91 per cent of land in Fiji belonged to the iTaukei.

“The problem is that iTaukei people have little knowledge about their land, iTaukei land is secured,” he said.

Mr Seruiratu said there was need to utilise land in Fiji.

“The big question they should be asking is land utilisation. We need to utilise the land and iTaukei land is protected under the Constitution,” he said.
