The responsibility falls on Swire Shipping Fijian Drua half backs Simione Kuruvoli and Peni Matawalu as they step in for Frank Lomani who will miss the clash against the Hurricanes on Friday night because of suspension.
Lomani’s suspension extends across all forms of the game until May 26, while Jone Koroiduadua is suspended until the 27th of this month.
Drua head coach Mick Byrne said: “We have two half backs, Simi and Peni, and we know both will play.
“For Jone, we have the other tight head in the squad, we got some good depths coming through and we miss Frank but that gives the chance to Simi and Peni to stand up and get their opportunity, that sort of gives us a little bit of direction in our selection this week,” Byrne said.
Byrne is mindful of the challenge posed by the undefeated Hurricanes, particularly their top ranked scrum.
“The Hurricanes are the number one team in the scrum.
“We had our solid scrum session today (yesterday),” he said.
Byrne also spoke about the importance of possession.
“We have to make sure we hang on to the ball and if we’re going to ask the Hurricane to make lots of tackles, we must get our stuff right.
“If we get our game right then our home advantage is an advantage. But if we don’t play our game then our home advantage is no longer an advantage. So, we really focused on that.
“We’re anticipating playing in front of our home crowd, which will undoubtedly provide us with a boost,” he added.
