A SEA of pink filled the streets of Suva over the weekend as the St Joseph’s Secondary School Alumni hosted a Pinktober walk to raise awareness about breast cancer.
The event drew a strong turnout of supporters, with participants coming together to promote early detection, regular screening and healthier lifestyles.
St Joseph’s Alumni president Laviniya Kaumaitotoya said the walk was aimed at encouraging women to prioritise their health and get checked for breast cancer.
She said greater awareness and early detection were vital in the fight against the disease, which has claimed the lives of thousands of women.
The alumni partnered with the Suva Marathon Club to organise the event as part of the month-long Pinktober campaign.
Among those who took part were businesswoman Judy Compain and Permanent Secretary for Justice Selina Kuruleca.
