Fiji FA president and FIFA council member Rajesh Patel congratulated both New Zealand Football and Football Federation Australia for such a milestone achievement after winning the bid to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

“On behalf of the board members and the entire football fraternity I heartedly congratulate NZFA on the massive achievement of winning the bid to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023,” Patel said.

“The involvement of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and of course Scott Morrison assisted us getting over the line,” Patel said it was good news for other Pacific teams as one of the teams would be seen in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.

“Since New Zealand will be the host, they will be part of the tournament, so there will be one more team from the Oceania which will be given chance to be part of the tournament.”

Patel gave assurance to both Australia and New Zealand Football that Fiji FA would give its full support.
