RAISING the Voice of Sports in the Pacific (RVSP) has taken a huge step forward in trying to enable how sports can contribute to Economic and Social Development in the Pacific.
Minister of Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou while officiating at the Pacific Research Symposium on Sports and Sustainable Development which was held at the University of the South Pacific today said sports has done a lot for the nation in terms of economic growth, unity and improvements of health issues.
“Sport has proven to be a cost-effective and flexible tool for promoting peace and development objectives, the growing contribution of sport to the realization of development and peace in its promotion of tolerance and respect; the contributions it makes to the empowerment of women and young people; to individuals and communities as well as to health, education and social inclusion,” Tuitubou said.
The idea behind symposium is to uphold sports in the pacific and its contribution to the government and its benefits.
The symposium will end on Friday.
