THE People’s Alliance party (PA) has hinted that its first set of candidates for the next general election could be announced at its annual general meeting in September.
Party president Ratu Josefa Dimuri said the party had not finalised its candidate lineup but was preparing for the election.
“At the moment, we have not decided on a date when we will announce our lineup,” he said.
“It could be during the annual general meeting in September or sometime after that.”
Ratu Josefa said several people had applied to contest under the party banner, but the interview process had not started.
“Right now, we have not finalised our candidates. Many people have applied, but we have not started interviews yet.”
His comments come after party members met in Suva recently to strategise and plan for the election campaign.
He said the upcoming election would be competitive.
