THE Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has confirmed it was aware of the missing drug exhibits in the Joshua Rahman matter and police findings that remaining exhibits had been tampered with.
The ODPP described the matters as serious, saying investigations into the missing and potentially tampered exhibits were continuing.
It said destruction of drug exhibits could only occur through the appropriate legal process, noting the Rahman matter remained subject to retrial and appeal proceedings.
“Following the conclusion of the proceedings, the ODPP was in the process of making the necessary drug destruction application when the discovery of missing drugs were made,” ODPP said in a statement.
The ODPP said that since the establishment of its Anti-Narcotics Division in 2024, it had prioritised applications for destruction of drug exhibits.
It cited the Justin Ho case, involving more than 4.1 tonnes of drugs, which have since been destroyed.
The ODPP said the Vatia destruction application would be made on October 15.
It said investigations into the missing and tampered exhibits would continue without further comment.
