There was one Fijian representative in the winning New Zealand men’s team at the Hong Kong 7s tournament.

Head coach Tomasi Cama Jr was a proud man after his side beat France 10-7 in the cup final.

Cama said it was special winning in Hong Kong, as it was his first win as a head coach in Hong Kong.

“Everyone knows how special it is to come to Hong Kong and play and I am proud of how we won it. I am proud of the boys,” he said.

“This weekend they (All Blacks men’s side) played well throughout the tournament. We stuck to the game plan and executed it well.”

He said he was always a proud Fijian and represented everyone in Fiji despite wearing the colours of another nation.

“I still represent the people back home. It doesn’t matter that now I am working with New Zealand. I am really proud to represent all of us.”

Cama sympathised with Fijian fans and hoped the Fiji side would come back stronger in the next event.

“Even in this tournament, there are a lot of Fijians here. They came to watch but our boys didn’t do well according to their plan but I’m sure they can regroup and come back better.”

The head coach said participating at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s assisted his side to win the Hong Kong title.

He said his players got the much-needed game time to prepare for the tournament last week.
