NURSES have raised their concerns over the change of their uniform with the Fiji Nursing Association.
However, the association general secretary Salanieta Matiavi said it was too late to do anything about it.
“I have actually received complaints about it. It’s too late to do anything now because it has been done and there are plans for them to use it.”
Ms Matiavi said if the medical staff members were unhappy about the change in their uniform, they should inform the minister about it.
“I have a lot of complaints coming in, but I just need to have the right audience, right time and right person to approach and to sit with the ministry probably and re-look at the complaints.
“These are complaints from the nurses themselves.”
She said the association was also aware of critics on social media with regards to the nurse’s new uniforms. “It is too late to make changes now because I think it is already in production, they’ve made all the uniforms.
“The thing is I have actually advised them to go through the channel or the system and tell the people who have made all these patterns to try and do something about it.” She said the ministry should have just continued with the old uniform.
“They should just carry on with the old uniform until they have made some changes to the uniform.
“I think they have consulted, but not everyone was consulted because I think some were not there during the time of consultation, that is why they were not happy.”
Health and Medical Services Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete, through consultations with his senior nursing officials, said the change occurred because nurses agreed with the new pattern.
He said consultations were held on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
