THE Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) warned there is no room for divided loyalty within the force, adding that any betrayal or collusion with criminal elements will be met with decisive action.
RFMF issued a stern warning to those involved in illicit drugs trade and related criminal activities, saying offenders will be pursued and dealt with under the law as part of an intensified national effort to combat narcotics.
The warning came from Land Forces Commander, Brigadier General Onisivoro Covunisaqa during the 2nd Quarter Land Forces Parade last Friday, where he stressed that the force was at a decisive point in its fight against organised crime and drug networks.
He said there was no tolerance for activities which undermined communities and national stability, reaffirming that all operations would remain within constitutional and legal boundaries.
“Vei kemuni kece sara na dau volitaka na wai gaga, na dau veivakatotogani, na dau veivakarerei, kei kemuni na dau caka bisinisi ena wai gaga, nai tukutuku qo e nomuni,” he said in the iTaukei language.
(To all of you that are involved in selling illicit drugs, using threatening tactics or associated in any way with the use or sale of illicit drugs, this message is for you.)
“Keitou na yacovi kemuni yani!
(We will get to you!)
“Ena veiliutaki ni kalou qaqa, keitou na yacovi kemuni yani. Na gauna o ni na tobo kina, o ni na sotava na cudru ni vanua o Viti.”
(With the leadership of Almighty God, we will get to you. When we catch you, you will feel the wrath of Fiji.)
He said the long arm of the law would find offenders and the penalties would reflect the severity of the offences.
Brig-Gen Covunisaqa also assured soldiers of full leadership support as they prepare for upcoming operational demands, including Exercise Bougainville 2026, which he said remains central to strengthening readiness and capability.
He further assured the public that the campaign against narcotics is long-term and aimed at protecting families, schools and communities from harm, describing it as a sustained national responsibility.
