The Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, has announced the appointment of a new Chairman and Board of the Fiji Sports Council, following the conclusion of the previous Board’s three-year term on 30 June.
Saukuru thanked the outgoing Chairman and Board members for their dedicated service and contribution over the past three years.
The Minister said, with the support of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the new Board takes office immediately and will serve a three-year term.
He said the new Board has been tasked with advancing the Government’s vision for sport while addressing key challenges facing the sector, including the maintenance, development and upgrading of sports facilities and lands managed by the Fiji Sports Council.
Saukuru described the appointments as a professional and experienced team that will help strengthen the future of sport in Fiji.
The new Board comprises:
- Rovereto Nayacalevu – Chairman
- Peter Mazey – Deputy Chairman
- Ana Tuiketei – Member
- Della Shaw Elder – Member
- Anabel Ali – Member
- Dr Ilimotama Cawi – Member
- Eroni Tawayaga – Member
- Vuli Tukana – Member
- Vilash Chand – Member
- Abhyas Chand – Member
Saukuru wished the Chairman and Board members success in their new roles and said he looked forward to working closely with them to advance sport throughout Fiji.
