New dates will be announced this afternoon on the closing of the 2020 sugar crushing season.

The Lautoka and Ba mills were scheduled to stop on Wednesday while the Labasa mill was to cease operations on Friday.

Fiji Sugar Corporation CEO Graham Clark had said wet weather in the weekend had delayed cane harvesting in all mill areas.

“As such, together with the Sugar Cane Growers Council and Sugar Industry Tribunal, we are considering an extension of time for the end of crushing at all three mills,” Mr Clark said.

“This will be communicated later this afternoon.”
