Homeware retail chain Rups Big Bear has opened its multi-million-dollar shopping complex in Labasa, making it their biggest store in Fiji.

General manager Sanjay Narayan said the decision to open the Labasa complex was driven by customer demand.

“For the past 10 years, we have been receiving requests from customers in Vanua Levu, particularly from residents who have long sought access to the diverse range of products available in Viti Levu,” Mr Narayan told The Fiji Times.

“All this time, they were neglected, now we are here,” he said.

The Labasa outlet, he said, offered a unique shopping experience.

“It is a very well laid out store.”

With 80 staff presently employed, the company anticipated further growth in employment opportunities once the store fully established itself.

“We are expecting it (jobs) to increase over time.”

In the interview, he said the company was committed to providing equitable pricing for customers across Fiji.

“We will extend the same pricing structure offered in Suva and Lautoka to Labasa shoppers.”

He revealed plans of expanding to Savusavu soon.

“We will continue to do our market research.”
