The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has activated the National Emergency Operations Centre and is working with the divisional commissioners to monitor the present weather situation in the country.

NDMO director Vasiti Soko said members of the public should take all necessary measures to ensure their families were prepared.

“Please prepare your families and communities with emergency kits and put into practice your family/community disaster preparedness plans,” Ms Soko said.

Motorists and pedestrians have also been strongly advised to avoid crossing flooded roads and walkways.

Meanwhile, Severe Tropical Cyclone Harold centre is expected to pass just to the South of the group on Wednesday.
