THE 34th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s proved to be a success with the two Fiji shadow teams, Fiji Barbarian and Fiji Warriors featuring in the cup final.

Nawaka Rugby Club executive Jeff Tamata said it was a fitting finale as both the Fiji teams fought against each other.

“This is what the fans who came out in numbers wanted to see,” Tamata said.

“They wanted to see their heroes in action. I know the tournament was delayed a bit on the second day, but all the teams played a minimum of five games in the men’s competition.”

Unfortunately, last year’s finalists Police Blue and Police White fell short of retaining their spoils.

“We are focusing on grassroots rugby and that is why we invited a large number of teams.”

The annual tournament attracted 90 teams across four categories.

The two-day 2021 Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s was won by Fiji Warriors after beating Fiji Barbarians 24-12 in the cup final.
