THE new teacher’s quarter that was opened last month in Navuakece District School will allow a teacher to have a safe place to live while providing quality teaching to students from within the district.

The $169,961.97 funded teacher’s quarters is located just a few minutes away from the school, allowing the teacher to get to school easily without any hassle.

Navuakece District School manager Ratu Meli Muakalou said they were grateful for the opening of the new teacher’s quarters.

“If the teacher’s home is built properly or renovated well it would encourage them to teach students better too especially the ones they serve in a particular district is always from the urban areas,” Ratu Meli said.

“We believe if their homes are not well-maintained they will not have the heart to teach our children well so we must also take care of them when they are selected to teach in a village or district.”

He said there are more than 100 students attending the school with five teachers teaching there.

There are seven villages in the district of Navuakece, with children from these villages attending the school.

The teacher’s quarters was officially opened by the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.
