NONE of us expects the phone call that changes everything.

A family home damaged by a cyclone. A business destroyed by fire. A serious road accident. An unexpected illness.

These moments arrive without warning. When they do, insurance becomes far more than a policy document or a premium payment. It becomes reassurance, financial security and, most importantly, the confidence to begin again.

For almost 39 years, TISA Insurance has had the privilege of protecting the people and businesses of Fiji. We have celebrated their successes, stood beside them through their greatest challenges and helped thousands recover and rebuild after life’s unexpected events.

That is why Insurance Awareness Day matters. It reminds us that while we cannot prevent uncertainty, we can prepare for it.

Here in Fiji, resilience is part of who we are. Our islands have taught us the importance of standing together through adversity. Whether recovering from cyclones, rebuilding after fires or supporting loved ones through difficult times, our greatest strength has always been our communities.

Insurance reflects those same values. It is a promise that no one should have to face hardship alone.

Behind every insurance policy is a person. A young couple buying their first home. A farmer protecting years of hard work. A small business owner investing in a dream. A taxi driver supporting a family. An employer creating opportunities for their staff.

Every policy represents someone’s aspirations, livelihood and future. We are not simply protecting assets; we are protecting the lives and ambitions that depend on them.

Insurance also plays a vital role in Fiji’s economy. It gives families the confidence to invest, businesses the certainty to grow and financial institutions the assurance to lend. It helps communities recover faster after disasters and supports long-term economic resilience.

A resilient insurance industry helps build a resilient Fiji.

Over nearly four decades, our organisation has evolved alongside the communities we serve, first as Dominion Insurance, then as Capital Insurance and today as TISA Insurance. While our name has changed, our purpose has remained the same: to stand beside our customers when they need us most.

Throughout our journey, we have witnessed remarkable stories of courage and resilience. Families rebuilding after cyclones. Businesses reopening after devastating losses. Communities recovering from events that once seemed overwhelming.

These experiences have reinforced an important truth: insurance is not about expecting the worst. It is about believing in tomorrow.

Trust lies at the heart of everything we do. It is not built through advertising or a familiar logo. It is earned through the promises we keep, the integrity with which we operate and the compassion we show when our customers need us most.

Our commitment extends well beyond insurance. Across Fiji, we proudly support initiatives that strengthen communities through sport, youth development, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, education and leadership. We believe stronger communities build a stronger nation.

Looking ahead, the role of insurance will become even more important. Climate change, evolving technology and emerging risks are reshaping our world, requiring insurers to continue delivering innovative solutions, outstanding service and protection that keeps pace with the changing needs of Fiji.

As we mark Insurance Awareness Day, we encourage every family and every business to review the protection they have in place. Insurance is not about expecting something to go wrong. It is about having the confidence to pursue your ambitions, knowing that if the unexpected happens, you will not face it alone.

For almost 39 years, that belief has guided our organisation and continues to guide us today.

Our name may have evolved, but our purpose remains unchanged.

To protect what matters.

To stand beside our people.

To help build a stronger, more resilient Fiji
