NEWLY-inducted Natabua High School headgirl Penina Qonitoga will focus her leadership role on ensuring students understand the deeper meaning of love and respect.

The soft-spoken Sabeto, Nadi, lass shared this at the prefects’ investiture ceremony where more than 170 students were appointed to lead the renowned Lautoka-based school this year.

“It’s not every day you get chosen to lead such a big school so I will focus on maintaining the school culture, focus on love and respect, school discipline and excellence and basic human behaviour,” Penina said.

“I will also ensure students are taught the basics of respect and love.”

Leadership is not new to the 17-year-old who has maternal links to Vakano, Lakeba in Lau.

She was also the headgirl of Vuda District School during her primary school days.

Headboy Yuvnel Sharma said they would work with other school prefects to ensure they left behind a good legacy for fellow students.

Chief guest Defence Minister Inia Seruiratu inducted a total of 179 students as form captains and school prefects yesterday.
