NAMUKA closed their Pool A campaign on a high, defeating Moce by 47 runs in the Super 8 Championship at Albert Park yesterday.
Batting first, Namuka posted 178 runs before being bowled out, setting Moce a target of 179 for victory.
Moce struggled to build momentum in the chase and were eventually bowled out for 131, handing Namuka a convincing 47-run win.
Namuka all-rounder Jake Bernard Cakacaka credited God and the supporters who stood behind the team throughout the match.
“Thank God for the game we played today and for the unwavering support,” Cakacaka said.
While pleased with the result, Cakacaka believes the side still has areas to improve, particularly in the field.
“We need to improve our fielding. There is still plenty of room for improvement, and we will try our best to keep getting better,” he said.
Namuka’s 178-run total gave the team a solid platform before their bowlers took control of the chase.
Moce needed 179 runs but struggled to build partnerships and eventually lost all their wickets for 131.
Cakacaka said the team was grateful for the support they received during the match.
“We are thankful for all the support,” he said.
The 47-run victory provided Namuka with a strong finish to their Pool A campaign and showed the team’s ability to perform with both bat and ball.
After putting a competitive total on the board, Namuka’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the Moce innings and ensured the target remained out of reach.
For Cakacaka and his teammates, however, the victory is also an opportunity to identify areas that need work.
The all-rounder said the team would continue to focus on improving its performance as the competition progresses.
Namuka can take plenty of confidence from the win, but their fielding remains an area they want to sharpen.
The victory gives the side positive momentum as the Super 8 Championship enters its decisive stage, with Namuka looking to build on yesterday’s performance and continue its push for the title.
