NAITASIRI will turn its attention to defending the Farebrother Challenge Trophy next Saturday after its Skipper Cup campaign ended with a 26-19 semi-final loss to Nadi on Saturday.

Captain Maciu Vakacabeqoli says the team will regroup after the disappointment and prepare for its first Farebrother defence against Ra.

Vakacabeqoli said the team remained grateful to God despite missing out on a place in the Skipper Cup final.

“At this time i want to thank God for being with our team, protecting us even though we have lost in semi-final we will not give up but we will still work hard and push hard and now we will now turn our focus defending the Farebrother Cup.

“We will not look down to any team, we will work hard and try to earn a win our first challenge is against Ra and we look forward to it, we will take each game as a time.

“We will just rest for one week to rest before we will start farebrother defence, we will take each game at a time.

“We thank all our fans for coming out in numbers and supporting us,” Vakacabeqoli said.

Naitasiri will use the short break to recover before beginning its campaign to retain the prestigious provincial rugby trophy.

The team will need to regroup quickly as it prepares to face Ra, with Vakacabeqoli stressing that Naitasiri will not underestimate any opponent in its bid to retain the title.

The captain also acknowledged the support of the team’s fans, who turned out in numbers during the Skipper Cup semi-final.

Although the Skipper Cup title is now out of reach, Naitasiri has another major challenge ahead as it looks to finish the season on a high by successfully defending the Farebrother Challenge Trophy.
