NAITASIRI are chasing more than Skipper Cup glory, with head coach Timoci Tinaviti determined to deliver both the Skipper Cup and Farebrother Sullivan Trophy as part of the Highlanders’ long-term ambitions.

After edging defending champions Malolo 15-11 in their Skipper Cup quarter-final at the HFC Bank National Stadium in Suva, Naitasiri remain in contention to turn their ambitions into reality.

Tinaviti revealed the team’s five-year plan was built around winning both titles, with the Farebrother Sullivan Trophy particularly significant after a 16-year wait.

“Yes, that’s what is in our plan. It’s a five-year plan,” Tinaviti said.

“Last year, we came short in the final. We’ve got one with us (Farebrother Sullivan Trophy) it’s still in the camp. After this, we’ll go back. We are hoping that we’ll get the second one the Skipper Cup. It’s been missing from us since 16 years ago.”

The Highlanders’ victory over Malolo was an important step in their Skipper Cup campaign, but Tinaviti knows further improvement is needed.

He identified the team’s forward play, particularly in the second phase, as an area to address before the semi-finals.

With injuries and national commitments affecting player availability, Tinaviti remained confident in his squad’s depth.

“I trust all the players in my squad,” he said.

For Naitasiri, the mission is clear: turn their five-year vision into silverware and bring both coveted trophies within reach.
