THE village of Nabouciwa in Tailevu is mourning the tragic death of Farasiko Suku who died after he was allegedly trapped under a digger on Monday afternoon.

Speaking on behalf of the family, village spokesman Inoke Livanisiga said Suku was someone who worked hard to make ends meet for his family.

He said the 37-year-old man was the sole breadwinner in their family consisting of his wife and five children.

“We miss him so much because he was someone who was committed to his family and as well to this village,” Mr Livanisiga said.

“Even though he was not from here, we still counted him as a true son of Nabouciwa,” he said of the Cakaudrove man from Vanua Levu.

Mr Livanisigasaid the entire village was shocked when the unfortunate news was relayed to them.

He added the incident had taken place while the victim was at work.

In a statement yesterday, Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed a 33-year-old digger operator was reversing the digger when the rear right tyre ran over the victim.

Ms Naisoro said the victim was rushed to the Wainibokasi Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

She said the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death was being investigated by officers from the Criminal Investigations Department.
