The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) says it will investigate the incident that left six health workers and a boat operator stranded at sea after their vessel suffered engine failure.
In a statement, MSAF confirmed that all seven people had been safely rescued and said it joins the nation in giving thanks for their safe return.
The Authority said the incident highlights the importance of maritime safety awareness and compliance for everyone who relies on sea transport.
MSAF said it will work closely with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Ministry of Education to strengthen maritime safety practices and improve awareness among communities and frontline personnel.
The Authority also expressed its gratitude to the crew of the Lomaiviti Princess 12, as well as all agencies and individuals involved in the search and rescue operation, for their swift and decisive response.
MSAF extended its thoughts to the families and colleagues of those rescued, acknowledging the anxiety they endured while awaiting news during the ordeal.
