More time given to counsel

SUVA lawyer Abdul Sharzan Lateef has been given more time to decide whether he wishes to pursue his appeal against the cancellation of his practicing certificate in 2019.

The matter was called before Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo at the High Court in Suva yesterday, for a review of whether Mr Lateef would need to file a separate application in another court in relation to some orders sought in his originating motion.

Mr Lateef has sought a two-week adjournment to come back to court with an answer because he had not been able to fully ascertain whether he would need some advice himself to see whether the High Court was entitled hear the motion or whether he would have to file a writ of summons if he wished to proceed.

State solicitor Suliana Taukei asked if an adjournment was granted Mr Lateef, that it be final one.
