Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services Ro Filipe Tuisawau has emphasised to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on the need to provide accurate and timely annual reports for transparency and accountability.
He said this was often an issue raised in Parliament.
“I’m happy that they have followed up on these issues and resolved because one of the issues we always come up with or raised in Parliament is the delay in annual reports,” Ro Filipe said.
“I’ve again emphasised that we need for that to be on time and I’m happy with the progress made by the board and the management team here in keeping up to date with that so both audit issues and the annual reports.
“I am also happy about the digitisation, as you understand, that has been an ongoing process and I just emphasised today (Tuesday) on moving that forward with scrutiny.
“So that means the business process mapping at the beginning should be clear because we have had experiences where organisations have started it but the scope of works keep changing midway with increased costs so that’s an area which I emphasised on so we also looked at the revenue and expenditure.”
He said government contribution and the LTA’s capital projects would also be areas which warranted further discussion and one he would be following very closely.
“That’s an area we need to work together that I could, as minister, have up to date information on that in order to be able to take that forward in terms of the government’s budgetary process as we are coming up for budgetary preparations mid year,” he said.
