THIS weekend’s 6th Martintar 7s received a timely boost from two special players in Fiji Airways Flying Fijians skipper Dominiko Waqaniburotu and Fiji Airways Fiji 7s flyer Alasio Naduva.

The France-based Fiji 15s skipper has played a vital role in the success of this tournament since its humble beginning in 2013.

The income raised during the tournaments have been diverted to the Cawa Methodist Church and church elders are thankful to Waqaniburotu’s kind gift — which has greatly helped in the daily operation of the church.

“For the past four years Dominiko has been sponsoring the officials and volunteer uniforms and organisers of Cawa Methodist Church. “We have been blessed by the financial support from the Flying Fijian captain,” said tournament committee chairman Timoci Waqaniburotu.

“Fijian 7s star and Naweni speed merchant Raduva will be at the tournament and presenting the best player award that is given by his cousin Dominiko Waqaniburotu.

“This year he has increased his gift which will cover some tournament prizes and the player of the tournament prizemoney.’

The player of the tournament this year will receive $300 and Mana Whey products from Goodman Fielder.

Meanwhile Viti FM and top Fijian host Maikeli Radua will also be at the two-day tournament to assist the organisers in providing entertainment to the rugby fans.

The organisers are excited and ready to stage the 6th tournament this weekend.

The Martintar rugby 7s tournament has been hailed by team managers as one of the best organised rugby 7s in the country.

Last year’s champion Wardens will kick of the tournament at 9 o’clock on Friday morning followed by the Police and Army games.

The ground entry fees for the tournament will be $6 on Friday and $7 on Saturday while the Under 12 years is $3.

The two days competition will be held at Prince Charles Park.
