Manual and automatic

THE knowledge of automatic and manual transmissions also plays a crucial element in regards to road accidents to some extent.

This also depends on the transmission type in which a driver learns and obtains a driving licence.

There are many reasons why drivers choose different types of transmission which mainly depends on their personal views considering factors such as easy driving, cost of servicing, maintenance, replacement and fuel economy.

Auto transmission gives relaxed driving as it changes gears itself and also gives rest to left foot, where as drivers have to manually shift the gears in manual transmission which can be tiring at times in urban traffic.

Sometimes drivers of cars with automatic transmission often confuse the brake and accelerator pedals, pressing the accelerator pedals instead of brake and vice versa.

Drivers also at times confuse gear stick positions, shifting forward if intending to move backwards and vice versa.

The most common advantage of manual transmission is “dead battery push start”, more engine control can be obtained.

As technology has progressed, automatic transmission have generally replaced the manual kind, which leads to poor availability because of widespread usage of automatic vehicles.

Urban traffic, bumper-to-bumper driving can be tiring in manual transmissions as left foot is always busy with clutch controls.

Learning on a manual vehicle can be difficult or a daunting task and driving on hills can be dangerous and difficult if unprepared.

What steps have relevant authorities taken heed of so far?

That if a driver who obtained a driving licence via automatic vehicle and ends up in a collision driving a manual vehicle or vice versa?
