SHANGRI-LA’S Fijian Resort and Spa kicked off the festive season on Saturday by lighting up a Christmas tree, reigniting its support for children’s cancer awareness.

Resort general manager Francis Lee said the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony was a time for celebration and reflection.

“We do this every year for our guests and this is also a time when you can support the work being done by WOWs (Walk On Walk Strong) to assist kids struggling with cancer,” he said.

Guests participated in the resort’s Stars of Hope program where they purchased stars for $25 or $50 on Saturday night.

All funds raised are donated to WOWs Kids Fiji.

Last year the resort’s Superhero walk-a-thon and Stars of Hope project raised $7000.

WOWs Kids Fiji team leader Viola Lesi said partnerships with organisations such as Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort were making a positive impact on the lives of children with cancer.

“It is so humbling to have the support of one of Fiji’s iconic resort and to also know that Shangri-La’s Fijian guests care about our kids and want to lend a helping hand,” she said.

About 200 guests and staff were entertained with Christmas carols from the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort choir and Votua Village choir.
