Three children who successfully underwent lifesaving heart surgeries at the Sai Prema Hospital and have been discharged, much to the relief and joy of their families.
Parents were grateful for the hospital for giving their children the “gift of life”.
Naomi Taubera, 27, was overwhelmed with emotion as her four-year-old son had undergone an open-heart surgery that involved closing heart valves.
“When my son was born, we had our first echocardiogram in Lautoka, but we couldn’t schedule the second one due to COVID-19 restrictions,” Ms Taubera explained.
After a referral from a medical professional, they sought help from the Sai Prema Hospital, which offers free screening for children.
This led to the discovery of her son’s heart condition.
“When I learned about his diagnosis, I was terrified and emotional.
“But now, I’m incredibly relieved that the surgery went well.”
She is urging other parents to bring their children to Sai Prema Hospital.
“It’s best to address these health concerns sooner rather than later,” she said.
