CHINESE Palace Restaurant will celebrate the Chinese New Year by sponsoring the Western Golf Open in partnership with longtime close friend and businessman, Sanjay Prasad at the Lautoka Golf Links on Saturday.
Chong Lee, the owner of Chinese Palace Restaurant and club president said: “This being the year of the Rooster, whereby we get together with families and friends to enjoy this special occasion with delicious food and drinks. It is also an opportune time to organise a special golf tournament”.
“Sanjay and I have been very close friends for a long time, so this sponsorship of over $1000 will make it an attractive tournament with golfers from other clubs invited to be part of the main event.”
The 18 holes individual stroke event will see prizes galore in the overall division, A, B, C and junior categories.
As part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, there will also be many novelty and hidden prizes, together with a number of lucky draw prizes for non-winners.
Club chairman of board of trustees, Raymond Singh commended Lee for sponsoring the event with Sanjay Prasad and will attract the cream of golfers from around the country.
Hot favourites who have confirmed participation include national rep Olaf Allen Jr and Roneel Prakash. Home club threats include James Krishna, Suren Pillay, Zabir Ali, Bobby Reddy and Tevita Drauniniu.
Elite national squad members will be well represented by Munesh Prasad and Praneel Prasad of Nadi and the inform duo from Ba — Asish Chand and Rohit Chandra.
Singh said: “As usual, the golf course is in top condition and all participants can look forward to recording good scores.”
