In a gallant effort last week Saturday, Lakeba successfully defended the Mosese Taga Shield against Naiqarani after defeating the side 20-16 during the FMF Escott Shield competition.

Club manager Roko Sowani said the side was confident before heading into the match but expected nothing short of a battle from Naiqarani.

“We were confident before heading into this match because the boys have been working extremely hard throughout the week for this match,” he said.

Sowani said the side had taken their preparations to the next level in terms of training, as they looked to defend the shield against any challenger.

“We have lifted our preparations to the next level and the boys have shown dedication and commitment to training and the result showed on Saturday.”

The side remains undefeated after securing two wins and one draw since round one of the competitions.

“Performance has been going well as we have not recorded a loss which is a good sign for the team.”

Meanwhile, the side is gearing up to face USP who will be challenging Lakeba for the Mosese Taga Shield this weekend.
