Labasa strengthened its position at the top of the Extra Premier League standings after a dramatic 2-1 victory over third-placed Rewa at Subrail Park yesterday.

The Babasiga Lions opened the scoring late in the first half through Peniasi Rotidara to take a slender lead into the break.

Rewa responded strongly after halftime with Kavaia Rawaqa finding the equaliser early in the second spell to keep the Delta Tigers in contention.

Both sides pushed hard for the winner, but Labasa sealed all three points in dramatic fashion when Melvin Mani produced a clever back-heel finish in the 93rd minute.

The win moves Labasa to 21 points on the table, while Ba sits second on 17 points with a game in hand against Nasinu at 3pm today at 4R Stadium, Govind Park.

In another match today, Lautoka hosts Tailevu Naitasiri at 11am. In matches played earlier, Navua and Nadroga played to a 1-all draw while Nadi edged Suva 2-1.
