ATHLETICS Fiji technical adviser and head coach to Pacific Games Albert Miller says long-distance gold medallist from Tavua College Yeshnil Karan may represent Fiji at the 2019 Pacific Games if he meets the qualifying time.

Karan created a major upset in the first two days of competition by winning gold medals in both the senior boys 1500 and the 3000 metres events.

“We will have to see if Karan does make the qualifying standard times and then it would be a lot easier to include him into the team,” Miller said.

“Otherwise it is going to take a lot of negotiations with FASANOC selection committee to include him in the team. It is up to Athletics Fiji committee to bring in athletes.”

However, Karan said he was ready to fly the Fijian flag if given the chance.

“If I get the chance to compete at the Pacific Games, I would gladly take the chance. I wish to compete at the Pacific Games in Samoa in July flying the Fiji flag,” said Karan.
