NAMUKA’S batting collapse proved decisive as defending champions Kabara opened their Super 8 Championship title defence with a commanding 89-run victory at Albert Park yesterday.
After Kabara were dismissed for 138 in the 16th over, Namuka struggled to build a response and were bowled out for just 49 runs.
The result highlighted Kabara’s strength with the ball, with the champions turning a modest total into a convincing victory through disciplined bowling.
The win gives Kabara an early boost in their bid for a third straight title, but team manager Viliame Lesikinadrau insists the side must maintain its focus as they prepare to face Malolo today.
