Japan provides $300 million to Kiribati

SUVA, 19 SEPTEMBER (RADIO KIRIBATI) – The government of Japan has provided assistance worth 300 million Japanese Yen (approximately AU$3.6 million) to the government of the Republic of Kiribati through its Economic Social Development Programme (ESDP).

The funding assistance will enable the procurement of a water truck and other equipment needed to increase Kiritimati Island’s capacity.

Mikarite Temari, Minister for the Line and Phoenix Islands Development of Kiribati, and Masahiro Omura, Ambassador of Japan, have formalised Japan’s assistance to the Republic of Kiribati at an Exchange of Notes signing ceremony at the Embassy of Japan in Suva this week.
