General insurance provider Sun Insurance Company Limited has recorded a profit before tax of $7.85 million for the six months ended June 30 this year.
That is an 11 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year, reflecting continued business growth and execution of its strategic priorities.
This is the second year that the company has been listed on the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX).
In its market announcement to the SPX, the company reported its insurance revenue grew to $27.02m, an increase of 21 per cent over the first half of the previous year, which it said demonstrated continued momentum across its core insurance operations.
Company chairperson Padam Lala said those results were supported by sustained premium growth, disciplined underwriting, prudent expense management, and ongoing operational improvements, enabling the delivery of higher earnings while maintaining a conservative approach to risk management.
“Our half-year performance demonstrates the resilience of our business and the commitment of our people,” Mr Lala said.
“We continue to invest responsibly, strengthen our operations and pursue opportunities that enhancer the company’s long-term value.
“We sincerely thank our customers, shareholders, employees and business partners for their continued confidence and support.”
Mr Lala said during the period, the company also further strengthened its financial position, with total assets increasing by 14.63 per cent to $149.9m, which he added reflected continued growth in their investment portfolio and disciplined capital management.
“This strong capital position provides the flexibility to invest in future growth opportunities while continuing to meet policyholder obligations.”
He said the company remained committed to expanding their property investment portfolio as part of their long-term strategy – with recent strategic property acquisitions and development projects expected to diversify earnings, increase recurring income streams, enhance the value of their asset base, and support future profitability.
Mr Lala said investor confidence had also continued to strengthen.
As at July 31 this year, Sun Insurance’s market capitalisation has grown to $386.4m, which he said showed the confidence of investors in their financial performance, governance framework and strategic direction.
“Supported by a clear strategic vision, a growing investment portfolio, and a resilient core insurance business, Sun Insurance is well positioned to capitalise on future opportunities and deliver consistent returns over the long term.”
