FIJI Airways national men’s sevens rugby team has reached the cup semi final of the HSBC Cape Town 7s for the first time in eight years.

This after the side ran in eight tries to beat Spain 46-7.

Fiji will play hosts South Africa at 3.34am Fiji time today.

Fiji’s tries came from Waisea Nacuqu, Kalione Nasoko, Jerry Tuwai and Sevuloni Mocenacagi in the first half to give Fiji a 24-7 lead at half time.

After the breather, Fiji’s points were from tries to Nasoko, Beni Vota and a double from Alosio Naduva.

Rookie Meli Derenalagi was yellow carded for a high tackle during the match.

New Zealand will play USA in the second cup semi final at 3.56am.
