POTHOLE-SIZED opening in the floor tiles at Labasa Hospital have raised concerns about the condition of the health care facilities.
The large gaps in the tiled flooring are located in what Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa believes is the hospital’s laundry area.
“That’s the laundry area, I believe,” he said.
The condition of the floor raises concerns for staff working in the area, particularly given the size of the holes and the movement of people and equipment through the facility. The damaged flooring could also create a risk of trips and falls if left unattended, particularly in a busy hospital environment.
Mr Ravunawa said the Ministry of Health was carrying out minor works according to priority.
“Minor works are in progress by priority.”
Labasa Hospital is the main referral hospital for Vanua Levu and provides medical services to people from across the Northern Division.
