HISTORY is already in the making for Gospel High School as the Gospel Saints under-15 rugby league team prepares for its first national semi-final appearance in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition.

The Gospel Saints will meet Lautoka Central College this weekend at Churchill Park in Lautoka, marking another milestone in what has been a breakthrough season for the school.

Team manager Agnes Wye said the journey to the semi-finals was built on unity, discipline and strong community support.

“This is the first time for our school to reach this level — from the zone competition to the national quarterfinals and now the semi-finals. It’s a big achievement for us,” she said.

She acknowledged the crucial role played by parents, the school administration and students in supporting the team throughout the season.

“We thank our parents, our principal and the students who have come out every weekend to support the boys. Their encouragement has been very important.”

As they prepare for their biggest test this Saturday, the message to players remains simple — trust each other and play as a team.

“Team unity is very important. No one player can win a game alone.

“If they work together, they can achieve something special.”

Wye also called on supporters, especially those in the Western Division, to rally behind the team.

“We ask our supporters to come out and cheer for the boys. This is a special moment for our school, and their support will mean a lot,” she said.

The Saints are hoping their run continues into the final.
