The Pacific American School (PAS) was officially opened by Korean ambassador to Fiji Young Kyu Park at Nokonoko Rd, Laucala Beach Estate on Thursday, January 11.

Aimed at the providing a level of education on par with the standards of American and Canadian schools to expatriate students and overseas students wishing to study and experience life in Fiji, the school will follow the Advanced Placement (AP) Program.

Speaking at the opening, school chairman Chris Jung said he wanted students from PAS to be enrolled in prestigious universities in the United States of America.

“I have been in this for more than 10 years and I have experience of sending my students to Harvard and other prestigious universities,” Mr Jung said.

He said local students would be welcome to join the school and benefit from the same opportunities as others.

He said the investment he made in setting up PAS was about $575,000 and PAS was also licenced to sit SAT and IELTS exams, allowing for admission to American universities.

The AP program offers higher-level school classes for high school students in Canada and the United States.
