A FAMILY in Nakasi, Nausori, is pleading with the public for assistance to help repair their house.
Saroj Devi, 55, has lived in the squatter settlement for over 44 years and now stays with her daughter Arti Devi, 31, and her grandchildren aged 13 and five.
She said the floor of the house has been damaged for a long time and they feared for their safety.
“I don’t want the whole house to be rebuilt, I just want someone to come and help with maintaining it,” she said.
She said the family survived on social welfare and assistance given towards her grandchildren’s education.
At the moment, she said the rainy weather had made conditions at their dwelling somewhat difficult, and she hoped to get some assistance from good Samaritans who could help the family.
