Bula
What a day, and night, it turned out to be for us at the newsroom here in the Capital City, Suva.
The big one on the front page of The Fiji Times’ edition for Saturday, July 17 is on the National Budget for 2022-2023 which was read out by the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in Parliament. In fact we have budget news right through to Page 7.
We knew the budget was going to be out around 8pm so every effort was made to try and get all our early scheduled runs of the newspaper out before the chief-sub-editor Sanju Prasad and his team cooked up a storm for us all, for dinner, as we waited!
It was a long night but I suppose budget nights are always long as there are figures to be sorted out, reports to be allocated to pages, before the layout and design, and then there is the need to focus on the delivery of the budget address. We can’t forget the uploads as well online, on our digital platforms!
So, another budget night is now done and dusted. We will run whatever we can given time constraints and keep the rest for Sunday and Monday! You can read more on our online portals though!
Then there are the analysis and responses we expect from experts. Something to look forward to!
